Maxine Catherine Raymond

Maxine C. Raymond, of Springfield, MA, passed away on April 20, 2025. Born on August 16, 1938 in Lebanon, NH to the late Wesley Boyea and Marguerite (Bomhower) Boyea. Maxine was a beloved mother and friend to many. Known for her love of children, passion for art, and animals. She graduated from West Lebanon, NH High School. Where she played for the girls basketball team and was a member of the Queen’s Court for her prom. She enjoyed the outdoors and in her own words, was a bit of a “Tom Boy”. Once on a dare, she swam across the dangerously swift running Connecticut River. During the Summer, Maxine enjoyed having fun at Trues Brook, a local swimming hole. While in high school she worked as a waitress at the Hanover Inn, where her father was a chef. She had the distinction of meeting and waitressing to a notable customer: Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer. Maxine raised her two children in Rye, NH. Where she made lifelong friends. Her devotion to her children had her bringing them to every sporting, or 4H, event they desired. She helped her daughter follow a love for horseback riding, becoming an accomplished equestrian. In later years, she became an Art Teacher for preschool children. Inspiring the next generation with her creativity. Maxine’s love of animals eventually lead her to breading championship AKC English Cockers. These dogs became an integral part of who she was, and she poured all her energy and love into them. Everyone she sold an English Cocker to, became more than a customer, they become cherished friends. Maxine is survived by her son: Calvin Raymond, Jr and wife: Marie Raymond of East Longmeaow, MA. Daughter: Tami Bigelow and husband: Tim Bigelow of Randolph Center, VT. Grandchildren: Brandon Raymond and wife: Kara Raymond of Melrose, MA., Michelle Raymond and fiancé: Dan Scagliarini of Hampden, MA. Great Grandchildren: Christian Andwood, Adrianna Raymond, Adeline Raymond, Mea Scagliarini, Nora Raymond, and DJ Scagliarini. Celebration of life ceremonies will be held this Summer. Dates, places and times to be announced. Maxine will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew her. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
